Minutes after the whole internet community saw miss Devina’s post, calling the Filipinos maids, smelly and uneducated, facebook, twitter and other social sites boomed with negative reactions toward Devina.

Filipino and other nationalities were furious after reading her post on facebook.  Most of netizens would now call her names and bad remarks such as “amoy putok” (term used by many Filipinos meaning smells awful), “fat pig”, “racist” and “Miss underworld”. I tried searching her name and instead of finding the real account I ended up finding three “hate pages” created for her. Numerous pictures of her were posted and given captions such as “Miss smelly armpits”, “drug addict”, “rotten bad breath” “smelly fat pig” and other numerous hateful remarks.

There were replies on the original post where it can be seen that Devina was being opposed by people who read her post and defends herself by saying that she can say whatever she wants to and that nobody can stop her form doing so because the world is democratic.

As a person of the “democratic world” it is also my right to react towards these tactless remarks of a person who not only is narrow minded but is also a racist and very rude. It’s not the first time I’ve heard of racist remarks directed towards Filipinos but this one really caught my attention. What it actually looks like is that not only did she insult Miss Philippines but the judges who chose Miss Philippines as well. It’s like saying that the judges were stupid enough to choose a Filipina to win Miss World.

First of all, Filipinos are hard workers who would be willing enough to go to other countries just so they can support their families. Filipino women would go abroad to take care of other children while their own child grew up with no mother. Knowing that they make such huge sacrifices just so they can put food on their tables, it is unfair for someone who barely knows what hardship is to judge someone just because they are maids, janitors or whatever. Now, if we talk about beauty, well, blow me to bits and pieces right now if I’m lying but Miss Philippines is a true beauty indeed. Not only is she beautiful, she’s also smart and has a good heart.

Yes I am Filipino, but that doesn’t mean I’m being biased here. Even if it wasn’t Miss Philippines who was insulted, I would still find it offensive because I believe nobody deserves to be insulted that way. I can be a very judgmental person and call her names but I don’t have to because she already ruined her own name without any help from anyone. LOL

Yes we are free to do whatever we want to but that doesn’t mean everything you do is okay or right, that’s why we have laws and morals. You can say whatever you want but make sure what you’re saying makes sense so that you won’t sound like such a total stupid head or idiot. We’re actually lucky to have the freedom we have right now but that doesn’t mean we can abuse that freedom. I believe that in whatever things we do in the present shall make a huge impact to what’s waiting for us in the future. As the saying goes “What goes around comes around, Keep your circle positive, say good words, think good thoughts, Do good deeds”. Have a great day and thank you for reading.
